Psychotherapy and Counselling with Kathy Gale MBACP (Accredited)

I am a warm and thoughtful psychotherapist, counsellor, executive coach and mentor, and I work with individuals, couples, organisations and groups. I specialise in relationships; work and career; conflict and anger management; couples counselling; sexuality and sexual identity; childhood sexual abuse; creativity; metaphor and dreams.

I also work with most other therapeutic issues, including self-esteem; depression; anxiety and stress; illness; bereavement, loss and grief; LGBT; and disability.

Psychotherapy and counselling can be invaluable in a crisis, and can enable us to greatly enhance our relationships, our work and our experience of life. They can give us the opportunity to look at our lives, at what works and doesn’t work for us and consider changes we might like to make. We can talk through difficulties, receive support and find new ways of dealing with the issues we face.

When life feels flat, we can recover our sense of aliveness, satisfaction and joy. We can become more self-aware and develop richer, more fulfilling relationships.

As young people, we learn patterns of behaviour to deal with our circumstances. In adulthood, these may no longer be appropriate or helpful and we may feel stuck, unhappy or confused. Therapy and counselling can help us to identify these patterns and find new ways of responding.

Couples therapy and couples counselling can make a considerable difference in relationships. Loving relationships go awry for a wide range of reasons, which can often be resolved. We can feel very vulnerable in close relationships and close down, fight with or withdraw from those closest to us when we are trying to protect ourselves. Many of the fears and patterns of childhood play out in adult relationships; and differences in couples can have a considerable effect. Often, learning to communicate differently can make a real difference. Exploring and uncovering these factors together, with the guidance of a supportive therapist, can have a powerful, positive effect.

When couples decide to separate or divorce, couples counselling or therapy can support both parties to separate amicably and constructively.

I began my career in book publishing, working as an editor, in marketing and in senior management. I have been Editorial Director of Pan Macmillan, Marketing Director of Simon & Schuster and Joint Managing Director of The Women’s Press. In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, counsellor, executive coach and mentor, I co-founded and co-direct the executive coaching organisation, Working Edge and I work with writers as a writing coach. The common thread in my career is supporting people to develop their personal, professional and creative potential.

I am now offering a coaching group for writers with the potential to become published and published authors who want to go to the next level. If you are interested in this, please click here.
